I find that after I have a shower and dry my hands, if I pen spin after I dry them my fingers are way more sensitive and have much better grip on the pen. Anyone else find that? If not try it now, go wet your hands under a tap then dry them with a cloth then go try out a combo. Let me know what you think.

I seem to get different results.

But this could be because i take a shower at 6 am everymorning, even thou im not sure how that would change much.
After i get out of the shower and dry my hands i find it almost impossible to do tipped sonics.

Has anyone else besides Niffe had any luck with drinking coffee? It never worked for me, probably because I've only ever tried the American dishwater. tongue.gif

    QUOTE (Niffe)
    I've noticed that the ultimate
friction on my fingers (to do pen spinning)
comes up 1 hour after I've drunk coffee.

Now I'm talking about the strong swedish
coffee and not the american dishwater wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

If I wanna practise really hard tricks,
the coffee fingers are a must. I don't really
know any other way to get them, maybe
if I'm working hard with my hands for 3 hours..

NHK have said before that his ultimate
fingers comes after a shower, if I remember rightly.

Hehe, tell me about your friction of preference. smile.gif

Ive noticed this as well...i was spinning and the pen was going all over the place and it just happened that nature called and after washing my hands with foam soap and drying them off with a cloth i had more grip/control over the pen. I want to try that coffee thing though...but i suppose even starbucks would be considered american dishwater mellow.gif

In my experience, it depends on the pen you spin. RSVP barrels tend to be too slippery for me after washing my hands/showering. But I seem to have a better grip on pens like comssas.

Odd, it depends for me. Yesterday, after showering my hands were so dry that the pen stuck almost too much
Now, after reading this thread, I try it, and its great!

    Maybe its all mental...

That is because after showering, or washing your hands for the matter, your hands is free of oil/fluids, hence it has better grip.

If you rub your fingers on leather it dries out your fingers too.

i find that after a shower my hands are super slippery and can barely grip the pen.

i prefer spinning when my hands are more moist, like after i've done some homework and my hands have a little perspiration on them. laugh.gif

slippery in the sense that they are super dry, and the pen just slides up and down in one finger slot. wink.gif

does anyone else have better grip in ur hand when its warm then cold??

  19. Nova
    Date: Tue, Oct 2 2007 10:43:35

all the time. cold sucks for me as it drys my hands completely.

  20. K4S
    Date: Wed, Oct 3 2007 03:40:45

The cold will remove any moisture from your hand as well as decrease your dexterity slightly.

way to solve the problem when you have cold hands and you can't spin:
-run you hand under hot water for like 2minutes
-sit on ur hands and fart on it
-just don't spin ur pen confusedsmilie.gif

Warm water works or you can just spin your pen anyways and your fingers should warm up since pen spinning should get more blood flow going in your fingers...but do something easy since your grip will suck when you have cold hands and you probably wont be able to pull off hard tricks/combos.

Its not really a way to have more grip, but if your hands/fingers are calloused you have way more grip because the skin is both harder and drier. Ive noticed this because in addition to fingertip callouses from music i have them in between my index and middle fingers too and i have way more grip on my pens there. Its not like you should intentionally callous your hands for pen spinning though, a little extreme. plus doing so would probably be a little painful.

It depends on how cold cold is. If it's freezing cold I wouldn't be able to spin my pen because I wouldn't be able to feel my fingers, nor the pen.

After washing my hands and drying them, my hands are like WAAAYYY dry. I put moisteriser or wateva, and then kind of dry it with a tissue and the grip is 1337

Over time oil builds up on your hands. Even just rinsing or washing your hands increases the grip. I do it often just for that reason. LOL (also for the safety and whatnot.)

Yeah, the pen always sticks to my hand if any water is on it. Also if its humid out, usually spin better for a while.

having grippy-er hands make certain combos that require more control easier.....
normally what i do is that i wet my hands and half dry them......meaning like wet, but not soaking wet..... tongue.gif

Humidity has a lot to do with it. I spin a Bictory SF so i dont have to worry about my hands being to slick. This pen never slips around and contrary to what people posted under my mod guide the amount of grip these have wont cause too much friction. Contrary to those who have NEVER EVEN TRIED IT!!! lol. I'm bitter about it because i looked far and wide to make a pen that would be perfect for utility rather than aesthetics and i dont think anyone has even tried it.

I find that in the morning after a shower my hands are really dry and RSVP's slip all over the place between my fingers. When i get home later on in the day and if i've perspired a little, my hands will be more moist and able to hold pens a lot more firmly. Thats when its time to break out the KT's.

I have the same dry hands problem... all pens just slip slide around. Lotion doesn't help dry.gif

I have yet to find the solution.

im in china atm and the humidity is off the charts here
i could walk outside and my hands would get all tacky in seconds
i guess this is why its so much easier for people to spin in asia (or anyplace with high humidity) dry.gif

Yeah, definitely. The extra moisture helps for me, on hot days. But it's not a normal occurence.
