Ok, I have these problems with my hands. It sounds wierd and some times people don't believe me. But lets say that I am making a "L" with my index and thumb. If I bend my thumb my index finger automaticly bends too. And if I hold my index finger so that it cant move my thumb cant move. But I can move my index finger without moving my thumb. I have some problems with other fingers too like my middle finger. I cant move it in some directions without feeling a resistance in my other fingers wanting to move. "I" think that it is because something is wrong with the tendons in my hands. I'm double jointed if it has anything to do with it.

Stretch your fingers every day and after some months you'll see improvement

Yes, every day, fer about 30 minutes myabe? with breaks inbetween, say whilst studying for a hard test just TRY to force your hand to move independetly, if your hands get sore stop, and then continue tomorow =]

Like should I push my fingers around or try to get them to do the movement by them selfs?

The main fingers most people have trouble with moving independently of each other are the ring and middle finger.

If you want to practice finger independence... learn to play piano or put your hand on a flat surface and lift one finger at a time (as high as possible without moving other fingers). it helps.

u may also try doing fingerpasses like how u are breathing(every single moment)it helps lossen your fingers(doesnt matter if u suck at it)

Oh man, I can see not being able to move your ring without your pinky moving, but thumb and index? just do hand streches, and practice that for awhile, this problem would make it VERY hard to PS.

This is the same for me... it sucks -.-'

If I try to bend my thumb and not bend my index, the index finger locks up and the top section bends. When I try holding my index i can only move my thumb very VERY slightly... but I'm working on it~!

when i make a fist, i can't extend my ring finger all the way like my other fingers
should i just keep trying to extend it, or just bend back the ring finger a little to stretch it?

    lol...
I don't have any trouble grabbing things, believe it or not. It's just when I do things that require me to move my fingers independently (like pen spinning) that I run into trouble. Except for piano...your fingers have to be curled anyways

Well you can always keep your fingers out of the way by doing the inverse of whatever it is, for instance you could curl it in to keep the pen from hitting the pen rather than stretching it out...
mellow.gif But really, just stretching every day should do it...

This is what i did and i hope my tip helps:
First watch Eso's tut on FP then the part where he tells you to try exercising each finger separately
do that, then try learning how the pen goes around each finger
try it and if your stuck with the pinky just try to move it with your free hand
keep doing this and eventually you'll see that you can do it without the hand then proceed from there

yea i have this exact problem too in my right hand. when i bend my thumb, my index finger bends too, and i cant stop it. luckily im left handed smile.gif

This is really awkward for me too .__.

Im right handed but my fingers are like retarded dry.gif, I can bend my thumb, index and pinky freely.... when i bend my middle down, my ring literally bends down with it. This also happens when i bend my ring down, my middle bends too. I dont know if there is something wrong, but my left hand is more flexible, like i can bend all my fingers without having another one move/twitch.

    Weird? ._.
