I was reading in the wsj an article about chopin. I never knew this before but he apparently slept with wine corks between his fingers to give them some more flexibility (this may be legend) for his piano playing. Think this would apply to ps?

might give some serious cramps in the morning, but maybe. Although it might make charges a bit harder

I'm pulling at straws here but it could have been to stretch out his muscles and, over a period of time, the muscles would get used to being stretched. So, when he goes to play his piano, it would be easier to get his hands around all the notes. It wouldn't necessary make his fingers miles apart constantly, but when he wanted to stretch them, it would be easier to do.
Now, IF this were the case then yes it could apply to ps. Though I highly doubt anyone would do it...

overstretching, in the leg anyways (I would imagine it could transfer over to finger muscles as well), can result in weakening the muscles by a lot.....

my fingers are short but flexible hmm wouldn't u get wierd flaps between ur fingers on the skin between ur fingers like breast stroke swimers have streached arm pit skin when they aren't swimming so would fingers do the same?

Do breaststroke swimmers have stretched armpit skin ...? Doesn't that mean the butterfly ruins your armpits altogether? ohmy.gif

There are many such similar exercises for musical instruments which are designed to increase flexibility and stretching of fingers. I heard in China, they cut the children's skin flaps between fingers to give the fingers more room to stretch and reach a larger range of notes on musical instruments.

Actually, this theory does work. My buddy does this for guitar. It takes about a month of doing it every night to increase the flap size so they can stretch further. Doing this doesn't stretch your finger muscles, it just increases the skin flap size, which in turn, allows the fingers to move farther over and up/down. Muscle dexterity takes a good amount of practice, but this can help. A heads up for anyone who is going to do it, your fingers will be sore for the first week. After that it won't be noticeable.
