well topic says it all, advantages and disadvantages of chubby (taeryong)or skinny (twim)
i actually have a question about this, i have semi-chubby hands and i want to get skinny hands, any advice? -
Date: Sun, Feb 1 2009 03:47:14
To get skinny hands you probably need physical labor and not eat lots.
I don't really think that chubby fingers have an advantage or disadvantage, but that they kinda affect the style the spinner spins with. -

i must say that explains a lot xDD i'm laazy... ugh gotta work out more then.. -

i somehow like chubby hands over skinny hands
-
Date: Sun, Feb 1 2009 06:36:01
somehow i think kuzu and bonkura's styles would not look as appealing as they are if they had chubby fingers.
and cloud traveller's and taeryong's styles would look worse with thin fingers.
it all depends XD -
Date: Sun, Feb 1 2009 10:22:46
eh i think its partly genetics
but your eating habits affect it alot too
personally, i think chubby fingers are just not appealing
skinny fingers look better for psing w/o a doubt
altho i dont think having chubby fingers hinders learning tricks -
Date: Sun, Feb 1 2009 18:39:03
They are both good, depends on the style ^^.
*I can't imagine Taeryong with thin fingers LOL* -

I prefer skinny fingers like kuzu's, ayatori's, etc because it looks better, but sometimes chubby fingers look nice if they are smooth, like bonito's...

Hmmm... eating not lots is good but for someone with short and chubby fingers not. I think short, skinny fingers sux. Long chubby too.
Mine are chubby and very short , it was hard but I get smooth. (for me someone with loooong and skinny fingers is much smoother) I think that chubby fingers are better for aerials xD -
Date: Mon, Feb 2 2009 11:42:13
I don't think it matters....
-
Date: Tue, Feb 3 2009 01:22:13
Hmm, I think each has an advantage in a different situation.
Chubby fingers have a greater circumference, therefore giving better control in arounds
Skinny fingers have a wider distance between them, making tricks that involve moving through the finger slots easier (like fingerpass and twisted sonic) -
Date: Tue, Feb 3 2009 04:52:15
My fingers are skinny but not bad for arounds i think its all flexibility
-
Date: Tue, Feb 3 2009 05:53:34
i have really fat fingers, i sometimes think it hinders my spinning... but i dont really care.
-
Date: Fri, Feb 6 2009 04:21:42
I think that skinny fingers look better, but I don't know about chubby fingers.
-
Date: Fri, Feb 6 2009 04:39:51
I think that either way you will still be able to spin perfectly fine but the way the it looks overall will be a little different. I think finger length has more to do with style and ability but i dont know.
My friend plays piano a lot and said that it made their fingers really skinny so i guess using your fingers a lot like piano, guitar and other instruments would probably help to make your fingers skinnier, but i dont know... -

Stuths old video "chubby fingers" proves it all: chubby fingers are superior!
-
Date: Sat, Feb 7 2009 10:19:07
aww.. what the hell. I just started yesterday and I felt discouraged because most of you think chubby fingers are somewhat 'ineffective'
Just when I thought I could be a good spinner. -
Date: Sat, Feb 7 2009 14:25:29
have no fear, people with chubby fingers!! For there is a spinner named BaoO and IMO he spins good too, although with chubby fingers. Just spin your way and don't let your fingers stop you from spinning.

Well i think that short and chubby would look kinda.. weird.
I prefer long and skinny -

i disagree. chubby fingers are imo quite helpful, i think in a way your knuckles aren't as much of an interference for such tricks like midbak 1.5 cont. >< *cough cloud traveler -

I dont know if this is right, correct me if I'm wrong. People with chubby fingers usually can spin heavy mods and go back to light mods or can anyone type of finger do that? -
Date: Mon, Feb 9 2009 11:56:46
i have chubby fingers too but im starting to accept it
-
Date: Mon, Feb 9 2009 16:10:34
long fingers :]
i got it from my mom, my dad has chubby
short fingers
personally, i dont really think it matters,
cuz as long as u have the finger control
and hand-eye coordination, then i think
ur in business... -

Trust me, you probably need to do something more like a liposuction of your fingers instead >.>
I do lots of physical labour daily (lifting plastic bags and school bags. 5 - 15ish kilos) it doesnt work ;-;
I think stubby fingers is more genetic, like how tall you'll get, with little environmental factors. -

I think youre supposed to do more finger exercise not just hand muscle movement, its not the same... -

When in doubt, you can always use a razor to cut off that excess...'meat' that are on your fingers.
-

thats...disturbing
-

I prefer my bone skinny fingers over chubby fingers any day. I think that there is less surface area for the pen to spin over, thus making pen spinning look fast and cool, but that's my opinion.
-

Lol i think its mostly due with genetics. I have thin fingers myself, bu at times i wish they were a little more chubby because i feel like i might be able to spin better, but i dont know
-

does fat in size means chubby in fingers?
-
Date: Tue, Jun 9 2009 02:34:51
I prefer the look of skinny fingers... but that doesn't mean people with fat fingers can't be pro.
I think skinny fingers make a lot of tricks (arounds, for example) easier because with a shorter circumference, when the pen goes around you end up being able to catch it closer to where you started holding it.
On the other hand, fat fingers do make top spin tricks easier because the extra fat on the fingers kinda flattens into a platform on which the pen can spin. If you have bony fingers on the other hand, you have to make an effort to keep your fingers flat (while doing midbak 1.5s, for example) to prevent the pen from bumping into a knuckle (and sometimes it still doesn't work ). Another good example is when doing thumbspins, the fat can sometimes bunch up on your knuckle, making it easier to get more revolutions.
As far as getting skinny fingers, my advice would be to lose weight. Although finger width is partly genetic, that's mostly because being fat is genetic. If you're fat and you have fat fingers, I bet if you get skinny you'll have skinny fingers. -

my finger is neutral, not chubby and not skinny
-
Date: Tue, Jun 9 2009 11:23:16
Well, i think my fingers are chubby. Although I don't like it. But I can't rate them lol
Spinning is fun with these fingers, too, so it doesn't really matter. -

I can spin my Clyatori v2 ( heavier than buster cyl w/ hgg tips) and switch back to a normal comssa(w/ no tips) w/ no problem at all -

Well,i have skinny fingers and when i spin my personal mod, around the same momentum as Dr.Kt.and i switch back to comssa no tips,i cant really spin it that smooth but still can spin
