Basicly does exercise effect your pen spinning? For example, if I play soccer, ping pong, basketball, or something does it effect your spinning? Also does piano effect it or even playing a instrument like the clarinet or something have an effect? Just curious.

Soccer is definitely the best sport to play to enhance your penspinning. The cardio workout you get from soccer helps sooooo much during those long intense penspinning sessions. Not to mention all that footwork coordination you attain from soccer, has an immense effect on how well you can move your fingers.
p.s.- Stop posting. Forever. -

I agree that mentioning football was very silly, it clearly has nothing to do with pen spinning. Something like playing piano on the other hand, that increases finger indepence, flexibility and dexterity, this surely must have some kind of effect. However, in my experience, pen spinning generally requires a different kind of dexterity to piano, and therefore the benefits are very limited.

I don't belive soccer or basketball will have any affect on your pen spinning... but, I think playing an instrument might do you good. I play an electric guitar, and all my friends that spin say I spin better then them cuz of the guitar. I don't know if it's true, but it won't harm you.... I think.

um, I think it does work lol. I run track and each time, after I get home, and start to spin, my hand feels like its more in control of the pen. I was able to feel the pen. So, it may be true. Try it for yourself and see what happens.

This is most likely due to the fact that after you run you have increased blood flow throughout your body. This includes increased blood flow in your fingers. This allows your fingers to seem more sensitive and more controlling. You can get the same sensation by doing a few push ups or anything else to get your blood flowing. -

Will your wrist cartalige start to wear out because of pen spinning when you keep rolling your wrist around? I heard some people go to surgery for those kind of problems.

There aren't very many sports that help a lot for pen spinning but if you were looking for anything with benefits, my money is on fencing, builds the wrist and forearm muscles so you don't tire as easily.

I would say doing push-ups before spinning to get your blood flowing. In fact, general warm-up exercises might be helpful. Not necessarily in finger dexterity, but having warmed up makes a superb feeling.

Yeah, some people get that for rolling around your wrist a lot. -

Usually i pen spin in between sets of weight exercises and when i go to pen spin, my hands usually shake. I am guess that it is due to the adrenalin rush i get, but once i start spinning its certainly different. I don't recommend it, u won't spin at ur best.

I think that exercise does help your spinning because it it makes your body feel a little looser

HAHA...and i believe that playing basketball helps....all my basketball teammates are good pen spinners....i didn't know why too....haha.... But some of my adult friends say that i spin will cos of the basketball thingy??

I find that if I play piano and guitar for awhile, the pen spinning gets easier. Or switch any of them. But after a long enough period of time I end up losing some coordination XD

I was at a basketball game once, and almost right after the game ended I picked a pen up and started spinning. It felt sooooo light.
[half-off topic] FFR REALLY helps with my spinning. Half off-topic cause FFR isn't really a sport... -

Do finger pushups count as exercise?
-

I do finger pushups alot. I guess they help but just doing normal pushups helps to.

Holy poop that makes a lot of sense. Because rapid finger movements is what it's all about! I gotta start doing some FFR again. -

FFR and I are no longer friends. I need my feet if there are scrolling arrows XD
