Hand Care / Good For You?

Is pen spinning good for your fingers?

I find spinning very healing. charge helps me at the front side of my middle finger. It's the side that points to you on your right hand. I usually write a lot, so my skin gets weird there. Pen spinning sort of heals it, but I now rely on writing to balance pen spinning. If I don't spin enough, my finger hurts. If I write too little, my spinning gets bad because my hand gets too slippery. It's a hard balance, but at the right time, I can spin really well. I can't use mechanical pencils because of the grip which doesn't make my hand hurt.

I guess to some extent, at first my hands were getting stronger and more dexterous, now they just hurt.

it's good in its own ways. it also has its bad points.
    good points:
    good finger dexterity
    fingers get stronger

    bad points:
might have finger pain in the future depending on how much you do (the less you spin the less chance of feeling pain)

can't really think about it too much...

My finger is a lot more flexible than last time, but, I dunno how it will help me. Maybe in typing? lol

    Penspinning is teh goodness.

      pros
    • It's fun
    • It helps get through boring classes
    • Other people like it
    • It can help you gain a higher finger dexterity then others
    • You meet people through it

      cons
    • You could possibly get carpal tunnel or arthritis in the future
    • You could be seen as nerdy and laughed at (some don't mind, I don't particularly)
    • You could be shot if you stepped on other penspinners's turf
    • You could suffer from depression if you broke a finger and could not spin anymore
    • You could accidentally lethally stab yourself

And that's all I have to say about that.

I wouldn't be so sure about the old people not being able to spin... I saw a 60-70 year old man at a debate tournament pen spinning.

Seriously, I always figured I'd have to give it up around 30-40 due to lack of dexterity.

carpel tunnel only occurs from repetitive actions
so just don't do any one trick or any one combo too much

as long as you vary it up a bit i think that your fingers should be fine

and finger dexterity doesn't necessarily have to worsen as you get older, just keep your body in good health and everthing should be fine
you could spin when you're in your hundreds xD (well, if you're still alive)

It hurts when u first start ps coz yr not used to moving yr fingers that way.
my mom is getting repetative strain injury or something i think from being on the pc but im on it more than her and mine are fine i dunno if its about age or wateva

Of course it's good. You stretch your fingers and learn how important practice is. Just don't practice sonic pass combo's too much and don't practice ringaround too much. My right pinky is totally bent from learning ringaround.

Darn, that reminds me of a guy who plays stepmania who had a minor case of carpal tunnel and couldn't play for 2 weeks.

    Pen spinning is good for...

Being famous only when you are best of the best of something.
Same goes to pen spinning, you will be famous by becoming top in WT, or people recognize you as one of the fastest, creativity, style and what so ever pen spinner you are.

Hmm, maybe we can be famous in our own country or so. Only when we are being filmed for TV shows.

Well it makes my fingers faster because on Domination which is a game on Mario Party 4 I can get 140 clicks on my controller in 10 seconds when before pen spinning I could only get 90 max. It realllllyyy increase the speed.

Well I think we should look at the situation what is better being a LOOSER pointlaugh.gif who can't spin. Or having carpal tunnel when you are older but be better than everyone else in your class at spinning. And when some jerk just tries to make up a move to copy you, you got to give em a mean look and pull of a like a twisted sonic so they know not to compete with you.

But when i spin too much my pinky gets stiff to the point that it can't bend itself for awhile. What the heck, what's a little suffering compared to being able to spin?

This doesn't have to do with being good for my fingers, but it is good for me. Ever since I was a child I have pulled out my hair. Until around 2 years ago when I first discovered my first ps move, I had no hair on the top of my head. Pen spinning has truly helped me in that regard and I have a full head of hair now. That is why I can't stop or else I will become self-destructive again. Plus it gets rid of nervous energy.

well, last night and today, i was repetitively practicing the same combo over and over again
and then, i kinda lost the feeling in my fingers.... it really felt weird, and annoyingly hinders my ability to do a combo once i've lost the feeling in my fingers
it felt kinda like pins and needles, except i felt in in my palms rather than the fingers......

ouch.. same thing happend to me but on the palm..

acctualy, i made an experimental mod(it has pointy tips too..)

then i tried to do a combo with it.. so i was in my final move with an aerial trick and caught it...

but!!! (here's the disgusting part.. sorry for those who are eating, faint-hearted, or those who are afraid of blood)

well.. i caught the mod's pointy tip with my palm... the tip punctured my palm and my palm was full of blood that time..

T___T huhuhu.. i thought it was going to end my pen spinning... good thing it healed after a week.. ^___^

Personally, I don't think anything's innately good or bad for you - the dose makes the poison. Water's great when you're thirsty, but not when you're drowning.

Penspinning's good for your dexterity, but not so much if your doctor just told you you're about to get carpal tunnel syndrome.

It helps me because when I don't have anything to do with my hands, I get really nervous. I usually develop irritating tics in such situations, and pen spinning prevents that. It's something to put my focus on, to keep me busy.

    idk

    pros
    - you get totally awesome at school / become popular
    - a lot want to learn from you
    - you gain lots of friends
    - you don't need to listen to the teacher happy.gif laugh.gif

    cons
    - you look like a nerd or you'll look stupid for spinning pens since pens are meant for writing for everyone except us psers
    - you get scolded by the teacher if you drop the pen too many times
    - carpal tunnel / arthritis
    - not being able to listen to the teacher ( thus you get low grades and or fail )

idk if it's good for me or not...I used to do it because it was my life but..a lot of psers got better than me so I kinda lost interest in it and a lot are hating my spinning (thx my fellow pinoys dry.gif) I always practice but I just can't get to supawit / eriror / seven/ or whoever pro's level T_T almost 2 yrs and still suck lol
