I mastered the basic thumb around in a day...I've been trying to master the thumb around reverse (and therefore harmonic) seriously drilling it out yesterday. I must've sat and practiced 6 hours straight, it was insane. Anyway, i went to sleep, woke up and practiced during commercials. on the reverse thumb around, I noticed my finger began getting pretty sore and red after awhile after I would use my index finger to "scratch" the pen for the thumb around reverse.

I have de'vo's Xtremem Beginnerz vol. 2 with Robert Heim

This is normal with pen spinning? Any advice?

    Thanks! biggrin.gif

Are you spinning something coated in sandpaper? O.O lol XD... Never had that before...

It's not really a scratch for TA Reverse, it's more like a push... A trigger gun like push...

The worst i've experienced is sore pinky finger joints from inverse sonic 23-12 0.75 > pass 13-34...

Maybe your pushing to hard with your finger. When I was trying to master the TA reverse the tip of my index finger and a little bit of the nail part hurt. I took a day off and tried it with less pressure and it worked fine.

You're probably 1) putting too much pressure and 2) practicing too much.

..weird how all the people who posted in this thread before me had names starting with S.

    Right!

Practice less, 6 hours of practice for one trick is way too long.

One thing I learned from sports, if you get tired from doing something and you keep on doing it, your form will decrease. If you start feeling pain, or notice you are doing worse then when you first started that trick, stop! You are probably getting tired and frustrated. Go get a dreamsicle, sit down, watch the tutorial a couple more times, and take a little break. Start trying the trick again after you've taken a break. 6 hours straight is probably killing your form, unless you're one of those people that never gets frustrated.

That's very good advice, and don't practise one thing that long! When I try to practise the same thing for too long I just get angry, the pen falls, I get angrier etc. Focus on 1 trick if you want to get it quickly, but don't do it all the time. Breaks are working well, and if you don't want to stop spining for like 20 minutes, at least practise something different for this time. Killing yourself with a TA rev isn't going to help, for example I usually do worst in busting after I've practised it for 2h.
    Good luck in training!

Yeah, you should take breaks. 6 hours straight is way too long for one trick, no wonder your finger hurts from that. Just take breaks between, practice some differrent tricks

I had that with fingers 123 when i practiced Twisted Sonic Bust to Bust to Bust.... Busts. Did it like 4 hours. If you have that, use very cold water, or even better, ice cubes, to cool your fingers. It helps incredibly. Also, you can use some kind of hand lotion after that to make your hand heal faster.

I have it especially with freshly prepared super pirates and mods with shard edges on caps or something like that.
Its better to practice less, too much practicing will make you spin worse than before, same goes with recording. happy.gif
Or, as said before, just different tricks.
