Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has double jointed fingers(Ex: Hold finger straight up and bending the Tip of the finger, Hitchhikers Thumb. etc.) but I was wondering if there is anyone else who has disadvantages in trying to do tricks because of the double joints. Like for me, my other hand is not double jointed, not my writing hand, but can do a Sonic Clip13 flawlessly. but on my spinning hand, i can move the finger tip, but I cannot bend it down? and is there specific type of training that we can do as Double jointee's tongue.gif

i actually have exactly the same problem. i'm left handed, and i can lock my 1st joint. but when i want to do a sonic clip 13, i never can just because my fingers dont work and i cant move the joint down.

with my right hand, i'm fine. if you dont believe me, ask strat- he's seen it and makes fun of my for it lol.

ways to get rid of it? no idea. practice. i've gotten a little better. and just work around it.

i dont kno if i have double joints, but i can dislocate my fingers from the sockets, and it proves no problem for me

I'm not double jointed at all. I dont see how it would be a disadvantage, maybe except for doing TAs. I think finger dependencies is a bigger factor.

I think i showed you guys my double-jointedness at the gathering. lol, but yeah it does cause disadvantages. for instance Twisted Sonic 34-23, double jointed people end up locking their fingers before finishing that trick. making them. not able to do it. or it will take a long time to learn to control the fingers

I'm double jointed, but I was never at a disadvantage except with my thumb (will explain later). I didn't actually know I was double jointed in the index-pinky until I accidentally did it with my left hand index. From then, I had to train my other fingers so that they could actually bend at the first joint. My fingers never bend at the first joint if I don't actually try to. Hell, my right hand pinky and ring can't even do it yet.

My right hand thumb is pretty bad though. I have a hitchhiker's thumb, but when I was little, I think it got slammed in a door or something. Now I can't bend it forward properly. It's bent back pretty much permanently. It made it hard for me to learn thumbaround since the pen kept hitting the raised knuckle. I've been training it slowly though, it's better than it was 3 months ago.

I'm currently training myself to gain dexterity in the second (farthest) knuckle. Its slow going but I think I can do it. biggrin.gif

Oh darn >.> That means I'll have troubles learning tricks on both hands... I'm double-jointed on both hands and I can dislocate and relocate my fingers tongue.gif I'm so weird.. *cries in a corner*

I crack everything on my hand XD I tried to stop for a while cuz' they said it's a bad habit and bad for your fingers, but my fingers get real stiff easily so there's a need to give it a pop. I also crack my neck, back, and toes XD

I'm double jointed and I think it gives me an advantage actually. It's easier to twist and move my fingers to make things spin right, and even faster and faster. Maybe it's more of a person to person issue.

I can pull my fingers out of my sockets too, that's how I pop my fingers sometimes XD But I'm not double-jointed, I can't bend the tip of my fingers. dry.gif

lol, my fingers do that too. My pinky will come out so far that it doesn't go back in unless I jiggle it around a bit.

Both of my hands have the index middle and ring finger double jointed (stupid pinky) and my fingers can bend backwars approximately 90 degrees. I can also do all that dislocating stuff too. I don't see any way it would affect my spinning, but then again, I've only been able to spin with these fingers and can't experience having not double jointed fingers..

i'm not double jointed but i have a problem with my ring and pinky finger on my right hand(main hand).
my ring finger cannot bend down inwords without having my pinky doing the same so i can do like a not sure what you call it but the charge with ur pinky and middle finger...kinda sux....

Same here, my right thumb used to be double jointed too but now I can't bend it backwards anymore.

It doesn't affect my spinning at all.

Lol i just went to the topic because i wanted to know what a double joint is. Well i thaught it would be something copletly different.

When i understud the explanation in the right way then my thumb is double jointed.

I know this has already been discussed several times but, do any of you have trouble pen spinning with fingers that are double jointed like the ring and pinky. For me, the lock up preventing the pen from spinning smoothy. Does this happen to you? What do you to help it?

    Thanks and God Bless!

    Keep Spinning! \(^o^)/

yes!! lol when i try to do twisted sonic 34->23 my ring always like gets realy hard to move
is there a way to prevent this?????????

It gets me frustrated. It's almost impossible for me to do the charge with fingers 3 and 4.

mine locks up a lot, but using double joints as an excuse for charge 34 or any other 34-23 tricks is not acceptable. everyone has these problems and you're gonna have to live with it and get used to it.
although when i do certain psing tricks or stretch my fingers on the piano, my middle finger (usually) get's stuck in the middle of the piece sometimes...

you need to do a lot of finger exercises , that will make it "Flexible" , for example Mart (JEB) his finger totally flexible

diamond99007. Yes, i need to overcome those problems. I am not using as an excuse for not being able to the Charge with fingers 3 and 4. I was asking how to overcome it.

Im double jointed on all my fingers and my both wrists, but I have total manuvurability, for example, between combos like the sonic rise and fall > sonic 2x my pinky (witch is said to be the weakest finger, is my strongest) can be jointed or or not at will. Also I do a lot of hand excerises ever since my doctor said it will smooth out eventually. I think that being double jointed isn't that bad. It may have some disadvantages but it does help a lot on my palmspins combos and top spins.

Nhat_PS : I guess you can make the ring finger curved a lil and do the charge34 with your wrist in a back and forth motion? =\ Idk that's what I used to do.

BlueClues is double joint but it never affects his spinning at all...

I think it would be easier to be double jointed. Some tricks are hard for the fingers on my right hand that aren't double jointed. For instance, I'm right handed but I can sometimes do certain tricks better with my left hand simply because all of my fingers on my left are double jointed. Doing a sonic is definitely easier because the finger bends better. It probably varies with different people and how often and long they practice. I guess if there's any big problem with or without double joints it can probably be overcome with more practice.

I have double jointed thumb doesnt effect me but before i started spinning i could not move my ring finger without either my pinky or my middle finger comin along with it but now i have that mostly gone just when i move my middle my ring sometimes comes still. and i have hitchhikers thumb but i think it helps smooth out my thumb around makes teh rev a little harder i think though, its a little bit harder to do TA harmonics in quick succuesion with more than just a few repetitions

I would have thought it was an advantage. Check out this trick for instance:
    http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showt...hl=double+joint

Was Bonkura double jointed? Sometimes, when he was doing tipped tricks he seemed to bend his first joint quite easily.
